Net Reports for Last Few Weeks

Tuesday, August 4th, 2015

5pm  Tuesday

Want to thank N9XKH Dennis for filling in as the 144.240 Wed. net control the last two weeks.  If/when N9XKH sends me net reports, I will post them here.

On to the 144.252 Monday net report…
On both July 20th and 27th, K8TQK was unable to call his 144.252 net because his rotor control box for 2m was down.
Last night, Bob had a nice net and his check-ins were:  N8WNA EN82;  WB8AUK EN80;  N8XA and WB8LNG EM79;  N4TLL EM87;  W9BN, WA4NJP and W4ZST EM84;  N8GCP EM88;  KA2KWM EM74;  KI4ROF EM55;  KC9VHD EN62;  W9CWG, WA9NGO and N9JBW EN61;  N9EGT EN70;  KB8GUE EM89;  KA9VDU EN53;  W3IP FM19 and KO4YC EM17.

The 144.252 net is called every Monday (weather and equipment permitting) at 8:30pm eastern by K8TQK, Bob in EM89je, which is south-central OH, near Chillicothe.   K8TQK has a very big signal and his normal range is 400+ miles.    His antenna pattern is N to start, then NE, E, SE, S, SW, W and NW at the end.   Reason why I still post K8TQK’s net reports is at one time, Bob partnered with us on Wed. nights and we were able to cover a good chunk of the country.  (Our Wed. night net history is here:  http://kc9bqa.com/?p=5363  if you’re interested)

PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER that there’s plenty of scheduled activity on bands like 50, 144, 222 and 432 MHz.  For instance, you have the 432.110 group on 7 nights a week at 8pm central, led by N4PZ in EN52gb, a good hour west of Chicago, and joined by 15-20 stations in a multi-state area.  They use the ON4KST.com ham chat extensively, so watch what’s going on and check in when you are ready.  (Talking about the IARU Region 2 Chat for 144-432 MHz)
To see all your options, 7 nights a week, consult posts dated Oct 13, 15 and 17, 2013 at kc9bqa.com.  I discuss multiple nets and activity nights there.  Feel free to pass any of this info along to hams everywhere.  The whole reason kc9bqa.com exists is to spread the word about on-air activity on the SSB/CW portions of VHF/UHF bands like 50, 144, 222 and 432 MHz.

WB9LYH Is 144.240 Net Control Every Wed. in August

Tuesday, August 4th, 2015

4:30pm Tuesday

WB9LYH plans on calling every 144.240 Wednesday net in August.   Start time is 8pm central/9pm eastern.  Look toward EN54cl, which is Central WI, near WI Rapids.  Antenna pattern is NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW and N at the end.  Eastern time zone is always targeted first with this net.

All licensed amateurs are welcome.  The net is informal and the goal is to increase activity on the SSB portions of 2 meters.  WB9LYH has a big station up high and he enjoys pushing the propagation limits.  DX stations and weak ones, listen in and see if you can make it.  We appreciate you spreading the word in a very wide circle surrounding WI.

Mark also advises that at some point this month, he will need to do some antenna maintenance.  He hopes this won’t need to be done on a Wed. night.  IF any change has to be made to the net schedule, as always, it will be posted here at kc9bqa.com.   Otherwise, assume that WB9LYH will be the normal net control every Wed. on 144.240 at 8pm central/9pm eastern.

ALSO– TONIGHT IS TUESDAY.  DON’T FORGET ABOUT 222 MHZ TUESDAYS AND DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO TALK IT UP.   For more info about 222 Tuesdays, visit (and refer others) to this June 30th, 2015 post at KC9BQA.com:   http://kc9bqa.com/?p=8313
