Are You Within This 175-Mile Circle ?

I’m not done with Wish List for 2010 items.    There will be a few more later.    Maybe tonight, certainly by next week.   Please give the Wish List a few minutes of your time.   If you know of V/UHF’ers anywhere who would like that info, please pass it on.

This post is about the V/UHF club I belong to, the Badger Contesters.   I’d like you to join.   Click on this link and you see a highlighted circle showing the Badger Contester’s territory.   http://www.badgercontesters.org/club_area.html  If you are within that circle, you are welcome to join our club, and submit your V/UHF Contest scores as a BC’er, for credit toward ARRL club competitions.
We had a great year with log submissions in 2009 and want to improve in 2010.     Please note that portions of Western MI, Northern ILL, Northeast IA and the U.P. of MI are within that circle.   All are welcome to join.   MI has no active V/UHF club that I’m aware of.   Those W MI fellows are an easy path for us, so we would gladly welcome them.  There are no dues or requirements of BC members.    As W9GA Ken likes to say, “it’s a low-key, low-stress club”.
There are several get-togethers each year.   In fact, the next one will be an informal gathering at the Waukesha Hamfest (Waukesha Expo Center 1000 Northview Road or County Hwy. FT) Saturday, January 9th.   Doors open 8am, not quite sure what time the BC’ers plan to meet.    EDIT:  It now seems like 10am may be the time, near the food area.
A larger get-together occurs every April, in conjunction with AES Milwaukee’s Superfest.   On the Friday night of that event, a few dozen of us pitch in for a hospitality suite at a nearby hotel, and pass the hat for pizza and beverages.   I will share more info as we get into February or March.   We also should have a Badger Contesters table at Superfest, and I will be there, just like I was last April, enjoying dozens of eyeball Q’s.

You join the BC’ers by going to www.badgercontesters.org.   Then click on the “membership” link on the left hand side.   From there, you email Dave at k9dq@hotmail.com.    It may take Dave a week or two to process your info, but he will.   If you join BC’ers now, you will be all set to submit your log with us in the ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes coming up Jan 23-24th.
The BC’ers also have an email reflector.  You can actually view the archives right now on the website.  To be able to receive the emails in real-time, or to post to the reflector yourself, email Bruce at w9fz@w9fz.com   Bruce travels and it may take him several days to process your request, but he’s a great guy and he’ll get you set up.

We look forward to having you join the Badger Contesters.   We had a big upswing in contest log submissions in 2009 and we want to build on that in 2010.   We also now sponsor club plaques as awards for top small gun station scores in the Jan and June contests.   These plaques are especially designed to get guys to improve their stations and effort level in the contests.   Big guns are NOT eligible to win the plaques.
