Hope someone picked up 146.43 last night

I wasn’t around for the 146.43 FM simplex net last night.    I sent out plenty of email calling it *ON* so I hope someone called CQ FM net when it became apparent I wasn’t there.   I bet someone did get it going.

Long story, blah, blah, but turns out we got a good friend out of a drifted parking lot.     We got her out A-OK, and ran into some friends who were snowmobiling on a nearby trail.   It’s funny and interesting how us northern country folks can meet in a snowstorm.   I’ve lived in rural SE Wisconsin for all of my 45 years, and it’s always been this way.      We got about 8-9″ here, and it’s beautiful outside this morning.

I enjoy interesting weather (storms and whatnot) but I am ready for this January thaw “they’re” talking about.

What that warmup means to V/UHF is better propagation.   That Hepburn Tropo Forecast map still shows impressive conditions this weekend.   Don’t see that very often during the winter, so get on and take advantage of it.   In very basic terms, warmer air aloft moving in over colder air is a good mechanism for better band conditions above 50 MHz.
