MRAC FM Simplex Contest Sun. aft. Feb 21st — Muskegon, MI 2 meter only FM simplex contest Feb. 7 and 10th.
Time to put the word out about the MRAC FM Simplex Contest. Guys all across S WI will be getting on 146, 440, 52 and 223 MHz – FM mode and vertical polarization — from 1pm-3:30pm central time.
This contest is either in its 8th or 9th year of operation and it gets a good amount of activity. It’s a series of one-band sprints. Best to read the rules — this is different from an ARRL contest.

Save a few hours for playing radio on Sun. afternoon, Feb 21st. Spread the word and tell your buddies. No reason this contest can’t extend well beyond metro Milwaukee.
Other FM contests are popping up in different areas. Helped that ARRL ran a nice article in the Jan. 2010 issue, Page 79, about how FM simplex can be a good training ground for new contesters. I know that the Muskegon, MI area is having their first FM simplex contest on both Feb. 7th and Feb. 10th.
Yikes, I didn’t know it was this Sunday already. That one is 2 meters only, and runs from 1-2pm central time this Sunday and again, from 7-8pm central time on Wed. night Feb. 10th. If you guys listen hard, I’m sure you’ll hear at least some activity across the lake. I’ve emailed with the fellow who’s promoting the Muskegon contest, and he’s assured me they’d welcome some cross-lake QSO’s. I may have to listen for activity at those times… Use 146.55, 146.565, 146.580, 146.595.
Any questions or comments, I’ll try to answer them.
